Patricia Ann "Pat" Sommers
Patricia Ann “Pat” Sommers, 66, of Pocomoke City, died from complication of an infection, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born April 3, 1944 in Salisbury, she was a daughter of George and Mae Avalon (Evans) Young, Jr. of Shelltown. Pat was devoted to her family, especially the grandchildren, when she wasn’t able to be with family she enjoyed reading and sewing. A graduate of Pocomoke High School class of “1962”, she attended business school prior to working for L.T.V. Corp. at N.A.S.A. Flight Facility at Wallops Island, retiring with 30 years of service. Additionally, she worked for her dad at George E Young Auto Parts, for several years before retiring completely. In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband of 47 years, Terry Douglas Sommers of Pocomoke City; a daughter, Deborah Fay (Sommers) Miles and her husband Van of Virginia Beach; a son, Terry Douglas Sommers, Jr. and his wife April of Hebron; a sister, Barbara Jean Young; a brother, George E. Young, III and his wife Brenda all of Pocomoke City; four granddaughters, Whitney Page Miles and Heather Brooke Miles both of Virginia Beach, and Allison Summer Jones and Sarah Briar Sommers both of Hebron. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Arthur Justice will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service and Friday from 7 – 9 pm. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City.
