On 3/30/2022 at 1958 hours, the PCVFC was alerted to assist Accomack County, VA with the search and recovery of a downed Naval airplane and its crew that had crashed in the water between Stockton, MD and Greenbackville, VA.
Rescue 1 responded with 4 of the department’s rescue swimmers and deployed them into the water around the crash site. Tower 1 responded to George Island Landing (Command Post) and assisted with set up and deployments of area dive teams. The departments involved spanned 3 counties and 2 states with numerous federal, state and local agencies. This was a well coordinated effort by all of our community partners.
