Worcester Co., MD - On September 27, 2026, at 5:42 p.m., the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies, were alerted for a reported residential structure fire in the 1900 block of Colona Road.
Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services PM 1-1 arrived on the scene and reported a light haze inside the residence and light smoke visible coming from the attic gable vents. Upon arrival, fire crews investigated and found that an electrical outlet with a heater plugged into it had burned and charred a portion of the surrounding wall.
The homeowner extinguished visible fire with a fire extinguisher prior to the arrival of fire department units. The crews from Engine 102 and Tower 1 checked the area for extension and confirmed that the fire had not spread beyond the immediate area. Crews also secured power to the residence and ventilated the structure.
New Church Tanker 1-7, Stockton Rescue 2 and Tanker 2 arrived on scene and stood by during overhaul. Additional mutual aid units from Snow Hill, Girdletree and New Church were placed in service.
