Apparatus

Engine 5 (1940s)

Former Engine 5

Former Engine 5 was a 1949 Ford “stub-nose” fire engine purchased new by the department to support fire suppression operations during the post-war era. The apparatus was equipped with a front-mounted 500 GPM fire pump, providing reliable fire flow for structural and rural firefighting needs of the time.

Engine 5 served the community during a period of growth and modernization for the department, contributing to improved response capabilities and fire protection. Its front-mount pump configuration reflected the era's design standards and supported efficient fireground operations.

Former Engine 5 remained in service until 1954, when it was retired as the department continued to expand and upgrade its apparatus fleet. The engine represents an important chapter in the department’s history and early commitment to providing organized and dependable fire protection to the community.
