Command 1 (2010s)

Command 1 – Chevrolet Suburban (c. 1993)

Command 1 was a Chevrolet Suburban, believed to be a 1993 model, that served the department in both a command and utility role. The vehicle was acquired through a government surplus vehicle program and was placed into service to replace the department’s Ford Bronco command vehicle on October 7, 2011.

Initially configured and utilized as a command vehicle, the Suburban provided a reliable platform for incident command response, scene size-up, and officer coordination. As departmental needs evolved, the vehicle was later transitioned into a utility role, supporting personnel transport, logistics, and general operational needs.

Command 1 remained in service through 2016 and was retired shortly thereafter once the vehicle had reached the end of its useful service life. Following its retirement, the vehicle was returned to the government surplus program, in accordance with program requirements.

The Chevrolet Suburban Command 1 reflects the department’s practical use of surplus resources to support command and utility operations while maximizing the value of available equipment.
