Incident Citation Summary: On April 25, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company received a report of a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of 1344 Ocean Highway. Before arriving on the scene, the incident was upgraded to a "Rescue Box" and Rescue Engine 2 was dispatched.
Due to the severity of the patient's injuries and the extreme level of entrapment, Maryland State Police Trooper 4 and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma's Go Team were requested to assist. Within Approximately 45 minutes, while crews from Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Service and MSP Trooper 4 provided medical care, the crews from Rescue 1, Rescue 2, and Engine 102 successfully extricated the patient from the vehicle.
Their swift actions, advanced technical expertise, and exceptional teamwork were instrumental in enabling the patient to survive this critical incident.
