Single Vehicle Fatal Crash Under Investigation
Sunday, February 16, 2025

On 2/16/25 at 12:28 AM, the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle crash in the area of Rt. 113, south of Blades Rd. After the initial dispatch, the incident was upgraded to a Rescue Box, which added additional fire units from Stockton and Girdletree and an EMS unit from Snow Hill to the call. Pocomoke Ambulance 1-1 arrived first and found a single vehicle off the roadway into the trees with heavy damage. Command 2 from Stockton was the first arriving fire unit, with Chief Jerscheid establishing command. Rescue 1 arrived a few moments later. One occupant was able to self-extricate from the vehicle and was later transported to Tidal Health Peninsula by Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services. A second occupant was declared deceased at the scene. Command was transferred to Assistant Chief Denston for the remainder of the call as Pocomoke units remained on scene for an extended period as the roadway was shut down. This crash is being investigated by the Maryland State Police. Any further updates will be provided by law enforcement.
