Tanker 1
Tanker 1
Tanker 1 is a Firovac 3,600-gallon water tanker built on a 2009 International WorkStar chassis, designed to support water supply operations, rural firefighting, and extended fire suppression incidents. Powered by a Cummins 410-horsepower engine and an Allison 4000 EVS transmission, the apparatus provides reliable performance and mobility during emergency responses.
The unit is equipped with a Hale 500 GPM pump and a 460 CFM vacuum system, allowing Tanker 1 to quickly and efficiently draft from ponds, streams, and other static water sources. This capability is critical in areas without hydrant access and significantly enhances the department’s rural water supply operations.
Tanker 1 carries a folding portable water tank to support tanker shuttle operations and sustained fire flows. Additional firefighting capabilities include a Firefox front bumper turret, rated at 350 GPM and operated via an in-cab joystick controller, allowing for safe and effective fire attack and exposure protection from the cab.
The apparatus is also equipped with a front bumper-mounted hose reel carrying 400 feet of forestry hose for brush and perimeter fire control. Two 1¾-inch crosslays, along with a variety of hose appliances and adapters, provide flexible attack options for both structural and wildland incidents.
Tanker 1 plays a vital role in the department’s water supply and rural fire response, ensuring dependable water delivery and operational support during large-scale and extended-duration incidents.
