Structure Fire on 15th St.
Tuesday, February 12, 2019

On 2/12/19 at approximately 7:40 AM, the PCVFC, along with Snow Hill and Stockton fire companies responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 block of 15th Street. The initial report by dispatch was for smoke coming from the floor boards. Engine 102 arrived, established a water supply at a hydrant, stretched a hand line to the residence and began to investigate. Engine 102’s crew found a light smoke condition inside the residence.

Upon further investigation crews found smoke coming from behind asbestos shingles near the exterior electrical panel. Crews gained access to the wall and found a small active fire where the electrical service went through the exterior wall. Crews were able to secure the power and mitigate the fire with minimal damage to the structure. Crews found no significant extension into the walls or interior of the house. The crew from Tower 1 was able to utilize a positive pressure fan to clear the smoke from the residence. Chief Gladding requested a representative from the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the cause of the fire. This fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
