Utility 185
Utility 185 is a former Army National Guard M1078 tactical vehicle acquired through the government surplus program and repurposed to support emergency response during severe weather and disaster-related incidents. Its high ground clearance and rugged design make it well suited for operations in flooded and difficult-to-access areas.
The vehicle is outfitted with 360-degree flood lighting and emergency warning lighting, providing enhanced visibility and scene safety during low-light and adverse weather conditions. Utility 185 is also equipped with a recovery winch and water rescue equipment, allowing crews to assist with vehicle recoveries and rescues in flooding situations.
Utility 185 plays a critical role during storms, flooding events, and other weather-related emergencies, supporting rescue operations and improving the department’s ability to respond when traditional apparatus may be limited.
