Occupants Trapped in Vehicle with Power Lines Down

On 8/4/25 at 10:05 AM, the Pocomoke City Vol. Fire Co. was dispatched for a motor vehicle crash in front of the Maryland Welcome Center near the state line. Units arrived to find a single vehicle upside down in a ditch with a severed utility pole, power lines, and transformers across the top of it. Due to the power lines across the vehicle, Delmarva Power was requested to respond to the scene with a priority response. The vehicle was stabilized, and crews removed a rear door to gain access to the occupants.
Crews also made entry through the rear hatch and were able to cut away seats for further access, and patient extrication. The two occupants were transported by Pocomoke City Emergency Medical Services to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional. Maryland State Highway Administration assisted with traffic control. Delmarva Power will be operating on-scene for an extended period. The Pocomoke City Police Department is handling the crash investigation.
